The tornado that crossed the future site of Westchase on April 4, 1966 was an F4 that tracked 135.8 miles across the Florida peninsula, killing 11 people and injuring 530, while a companion F2 carved its own 123.3-mile path that same day. The area's file with the NOAA Storm Prediction Center reaches back to a brief F2 near here on July 22, 1951, and runs through an F1 on August 12, 1976 that killed 1 person and injured 21, an F3 on May 4, 1978 that killed 3 and injured 94, and the paired strikes of October 3, 1992, when an F2 killed 1 and an F3 killed 3 and injured 75. In the 2020s, an EF2 ran 13.11 miles through the area on December 16, 2020, another EF2 struck on October 12, 2023, and a brief EF0 touched down on September 25, 2025.
