Jupiter sits on Florida's Atlantic coast in northern Palm Beach County, where the Loxahatchee River meets the ocean, and its tornado history follows South Florida's rhythms: storms spun up by summer sea-breeze convection and by tropical systems during hurricane season, with many of its event dates falling between June and October.
The area has seen dangerous storms. On October 19, 1958, an F3 tornado tracked 20.2 miles on a path up to 440 yards wide, killing one person, injuring 24, and causing $275,000 in damage. Another F3 struck on January 24, 1979, running 9.6 miles.
