Eastvale sits on flat, fast-growing ground in northwestern Riverside County, where the Santa Ana River corridor opens into the Chino Basin. Tornadoes in this corner of the Inland Empire tend to ride cool-season Pacific storm systems rather than springtime supercells. An F0 touched down on February 19, 1962, and an F1 on January 31, 1979. The stormy winter of 1992-93 produced a flurry of weak twisters near the city: an F1 on December 7, 1992, another F1 on January 14, 1993, and F0s on January 18 and February 8, 1993. An F1 followed on November 11, 1997.
A more destructive episode arrived in late spring: on May 22, 2008, an EF2 tornado carved a 2.8-mile path up to 75 yards wide, injuring one person and causing $350,000 in property damage. Weaker EF0 tornadoes were confirmed in the area that same day, and another EF0 touched down on May 23, 2008. The warm season has contributed as well, with EF0 tornadoes on August 12 and September 9, 2012. The familiar winter setup returned when an EF0 struck on February 23, 2023.
