Tornado history around Agua Caliente, in the Sonoma Valley of Northern California, runs on the rhythm of the Pacific storm season rather than the spring calendar familiar in the central United States. Cool-season systems sweeping in off the coast have repeatedly spun up brief tornadoes across Sonoma County's valley floors and surrounding hills, and December dates recur again and again in the area's tornado history.
An early exception to that winter tendency came on June 1, 1958, when an F2 tornado tracked roughly 15 miles on a path about 50 yards wide, causing $27,500 in property damage. An F1 followed on November 10, 1964, and another F1 touched down on February 27, 1983.
