Rogers sits in Benton County, in the Ozark hill country of far northwest Arkansas, where spring storm systems have repeatedly produced damaging tornadoes. On June 12, 1970, an F3 tore a 51.8-mile path through the area, killing one person and injuring 45. A narrow F2 followed a 28-mile track on November 15, 1988, killing one person and injuring 12.

More recent decades have brought intense strikes as well. An EF3 struck on December 31, 2010, killing four people along a 21.1-mile path, and another EF3 on March 30, 2022 injured seven and left $20 million in damage along a 5.2-mile path.

May 26, 2024 brought a burst of tornadoes to the area: an EF3 carved a 7.9-mile path up to 3,200 yards wide, and an EF2 the same day cut a 7.4-mile swath as wide as 3,000 yards, causing $80 million in property damage. Later that year, on November 4, an EF2 tracked 32.9 miles through the region. Tornadoes near Rogers cluster in the spring months from March into June, but the area has also seen autumn and cool-season strikes — among them an EF2 on October 21, 2019 that grew 2,640 yards wide along a 31.4-mile path.
