Jacksonville sits in Pulaski County in central Arkansas, northeast of Little Rock along the U.S. 67 corridor, and its tornado history clusters heavily in spring, though the area has been struck in nearly every season, including deep winter.
An F4 tornado struck on April 11, 1965, killing 6 people, injuring 200, and causing $27,500,000 in damage along a 4.7-mile path. On March 1, 1997, tornadoes swept the area; one F4 that day killed 10 people and injured 40 along a 14-mile track. Cold-season storms have been deadly here too: an F3 on December 2, 1982 killed 2 people and injured 53, and the outbreak of January 21-22, 1999 included an F3 on January 22 that killed 3 people and injured 72 along a 39-mile path.
In more recent years, an EF4 on April 28, 2014 tracked 41.1 miles through central Arkansas, killing 16 people, injuring 193, and causing $223,450,000 in property damage. On March 31, 2023, an EF3 injured 54 people along a 34.23-mile path, with damage of $90,000,000. Activity has continued: an EF1 touched down on April 20, 2025, followed by an EF0 on June 12, 2025.
