About Tornadoes in Cabot

This overview was written July 28, 2026. The tornado counts and notable-event figures elsewhere on this page reflect the latest data and may differ from this summary.

Cabot sits in Lonoke County, on the flat lowlands of central Arkansas northeast of Little Rock, and its tornado history clusters heavily in March and April, when Gulf moisture and strong spring systems collide over the region. A deadly F4 struck on March 21, 1952, carving a 14.6-mile path roughly a mile wide, and another deadly F4 hit on April 11, 1965. The spring threat has continued into the modern era: an F4 moved through the area on March 1, 1997; a deadly EF2 tracked more than fifty miles across the region on April 25, 2011, followed the next day by an EF2 that caused destructive damage; a deadly EF4 traveled 41.1 miles on April 28, 2014; and an EF3 cut a 34.23-mile path near the city on March 31, 2023, leaving heavy damage in its wake.

Cool-season tornadoes are a recurring part of the local story as well. F3 tornadoes struck on December 2, 1982, and again on December 24, 1982, and back-to-back days of severe weather on January 21 and 22, 1999, brought tornadoes to the area, including deadly F3s on the second day. Activity has persisted in recent years, with an EF1 touching down on April 20, 2025, and an EF0 on June 12, 2025.
