Tillmans Corner sits in Mobile County on Alabama's Gulf Coast, just southwest of Mobile, and its tornado history runs through every season of the year. On November 3, 1968, an F3 tornado tracked 70.4 miles through the area on a path as wide as 400 yards, injuring 18 people. An F3 on April 18, 1950 followed a 14-mile path and injured 15, and on May 2, 1977 an F2 cut a swath 440 yards across along a 5.2-mile track.

Winter has produced serious tornadoes here as well, including on Christmas Day itself: an F2 struck on December 25, 1964, injuring three people, and an EF2 on December 25, 2012 traveled 5.15 miles and caused $1,350,000 in property damage. In early spring, EF2 tornadoes struck on March 9, 2011, one of them injuring four people.

Autumn carries its own risk on this stretch of the central Gulf Coast. An F1 tornado on October 25, 1997 injured seven people along a 13-mile path, and EF1 tornadoes touched down on October 25, 2019 and again on October 26, 2025. On October 28, 2021, an EF1 killed one person and caused $150,000 in damage along a path under a mile long — a reminder that even lower-rated tornadoes here can turn deadly.
