Daphne sits on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay in Baldwin County, Alabama, where Gulf moisture keeps severe weather a threat well beyond spring. An F3 tornado on April 18, 1950 injured 15 people along a 14-mile path, and another F3 on November 3, 1968 tracked 70.4 miles through the region and injured 18. Autumn has produced some of the area's more intense storms. An F3 on November 22, 1997 carved a mile-long path 300 yards wide, and October 13, 2001 brought an F3 that reached 440 yards in width, along with an F2 the same day. On November 27, 2004, an F2 injured 4 people along a 4.5-mile track.

EF0 and EF1 tornadoes struck repeatedly on October 29 and 30, 2022, and again on January 9, 2024, and an EF1 on October 27, 2025 continued the cool-season tornado pattern familiar along this stretch of the Gulf Coast.
