Aberdeen lies in northeastern Maryland near the head of the Chesapeake Bay, where the rolling Piedmont gives way to the flat coastal plain. This part of the mid-Atlantic experiences tornadoes across a range of situations, and although they are not as frequent as in the nation's midsection, the region sees them in most years.
